Regional Transit Workshop
October 25, 1:30-3:30pm
AVCOG, 125 Manley Rd, Auburn
We know, from many conversations with our members about making Oxford County a healthier place, that transportation is a huge factor related to health, employment, education, and more.
This Maine Department of Transportation workshop is the best-possible opportunity for the public to present their needs and desires for more robust public transportation. If transportation is important to you, it’s important to show up and add your voice to this conversation. It is important that there be individuals present who can speak to the needs of veterans, seniors, people with disabilities, and people with low incomes, as well as the general public.
MDOT needs to know that we need transportation options that include…
Longer hours of operation
6 or 7 day operation
Service into more areas
Newer vehicles (more efficient, cheaper to maintain, more current amenities)
Much higher state funding for public transportation
More support for rural public transportation, urban public transportation, inter-town, inter-city and inter-regional public transportation, throughout the state.
